This is a replica of a Katana sword that has a hilt similar to a Nagamaki with a blade similar to a Naginata polearm. It is traditionally made in a maru (single steel) format, utilizing reliable 1095 high carbon steel. It follows a unique unokubi-zukuri (blade profile designed for efficient cutting), enabling its users to use it for tameshigiri (cutting practice).
The sword is full-tang and double-pegged for increased stability. Its blade includes a bohi (groove) which generates a tachikaze (sound feedback) when slashing. Authentically clay-tempered, the blade features a hamon and a harder cutting edge. The long wooden handle is covered with an uneven red rayskin beneath a tightly wound silk hineri-maki (cord wrap), ensuring a firm grip. Its scabbard is composed of hardwood with a matte finish.
The fittings of this Nagamaki are crafted from quality brass and copper, adorned with a dragon symbolizing might and courage. Accompanying the sword is a complimentary sword bag. The sword is perfect for testing the cutting prowess of the Nagamaki.
