This double-edged Jian straight sword is a replica of the golden age of Chinese blades, the Tang Dynasty (618 - 907 CE). It's named the "Peony Sword," as its main motif is the peony, a unique, woody flower exclusive to China with a history spanning over 1500 years. Often referred to as the "king of flowers," it symbolizes wealth and prosperity.
The Chinese flower Jian features a traditionally crafted 8-sided blade with 2 fullers/grooves made from pattern steel, folded to reveal approximately 8192 visible layers. The blade has undergone polishing and clay tempering to harden the edges and produce a distinctive hamon line. Both the handle and scabbard are constructed from wood, wrapped in superior rayskin material of a beautiful blue hue. The fittings are of copper and bear a golden-like hue, symbolising the wealth associated with the flower emblem.
The sword, available either sharpened or unsharpened, is offered with or without optional engraving and comes with a protective sword bag for storage.
