This is a functional, detailed beginner's Katana samurai sword, made from the reliable 1060 high carbon steel. Known for just the right amount of flexibility and rigidity, the steel is heat-treated and quenched properly for ideal hardness. The sword has been hand-polished to achieve a bright shine effect.
The blade is full tang, double pegged for extra security. Its superb handling attribute is thanks to the traditional rayskin over silk tsuka-maki wrap. This Katana's blade features two sets of bohi (grooves) that produce a perfect tachikaze (swing sound) and can be secured safely in the wooden scabbard. The fittings, following a flower motif symbolizing hope and renewal, are made from alloy.
