Citadel's Limited Edition Dragon Katana is an elegantly crafted sword with a harmonious design available to just 100 units. Completely handmade, each sword is accompanied by a certificate and signed by the smith on the Nakago along with the sword number.
This particular katana features a shinogi zukuri (curved with yokote and shinogi close to the mune) blade forged from DNH7 high carbon steel and differentially hardened. This produces a beautiful blade with midareba (irregular) hamon that is resilient, durable, and retains its edge very well. It also features a full length bohi that continues through the habaki and nakago helps to lighten and balance the sword. The blade is then hand polished using traditional stones and powders to give the blade an authentic look.
Consistent with its name, this katana is equipped with high quality fittings with a dragon and waves theme as seen on the maru gata (round or circular) tsuba, fuchi, kashira, and menuki. As mentioned above, the copper habaki is forged with the continuation of the fuller into the tang of the blade.
The handmade wooden tsuka carved to fit each individual sword is wrapped fully with samegawa held in place with Japanese imported dark blue silk tsuka ito. In line with the theme, the partially ray skin wrapped saya is lacquered in a deep blue to match the tsuka. Like the handle, the scabbard is carved to fit the individual sword to ensure a proper fit.
