This traditionally-made Chinese gentleman Jian sword with an 8-sided blade pays respect to the four mythological beasts - the sky blue dragon in the east, the white tiger in the west, the vermilion bird in the south, and the black sea turtle in the north. Each of these beasts corresponds to one of the 4 Chinese seasons and one of the 5 elements, symbolizing good luck and fortune.
The sword is made out of pattern steel, folded repeatedly to produce numerous Damascus-like patterns on its blade. The blade has been hazuya polished to enhance these lines further and has also been oil quenched and heat treated to be functional. Its fittings are made of brass, featuring 4 different beasts, and come with a rosewood scabbard and handle. The sword includes optional, free engraving and comes with a complimentary sword bag for safe storage.
